If there was a second crossover between strange new worlds and lower decks I hope it would be the crew of the Enterprise ending up on the Cerritos but not ending up in the lower decks till halfway through the episode and until then they only interact with the bridge crew and miss the ensings by like a slim margin.

I don't know if anyone noticed this yet but Mariner was the furthest away from the portal when Boimler was pulled in but out of all of them she was the first to actually get to the portal.

Really Enjoying Lower Decks Season 5 So Far. Love That Personal Space Between These Two Are Exponentially
Really Enjoying Lower Decks Season 5 So Far. Love That Personal Space Between These Two Are Exponentially

Really enjoying Lower Decks season 5 so far. Love that personal space between these two are exponentially decreasing. 😏

The second image was whipped up in a hurry because discord was worried whether Mariner was alright.

A digital painting of the main four characters from Lower Decks in a decontamination chamber. Tendi and Mariner are sitting down, Tendi smiling and rubbing decontamination gel on her arm, and Mariner looking weirded out while rubbing decon gel on her leg. Boimler and Rutherford are standing up, Boimler spreading gel under his arms and the latter happily helping him by applying gel on his back. Boimler is also talking to Mariner. Everyone is in their underwear and surrounded by blue light.

yeah lower decks put a decon scene on my screen and my dormant entheadism reactivated like the winter soldier. sorry.

+ closeups!

I Wasn't Jazzed With The Official Lower Deck-sona Maker So I Drew My Own Star Trek OC In The Lower Decks

I wasn't jazzed with the official Lower Deck-sona maker so I drew my own Star Trek OC in the Lower Decks style!

Ensign T'Shei Ryan. She was born into a near-warp society, but was raised by humans due to politically complicated reasons (I love complicated Star Trek politics lmao). She's one of those characters that I'd love to write fanfic for but there's so much freakin' lore that I'm too scared to start.

Her first name was given to her by a Vulcan researcher. It loosely means "she who screams" because she was a noisy baby, haha.

The best part about this scene was it was actually Migleemo who called Meema, not the other way around ("she needs to see her boy in the captain's chair!").

A seven panel comic of the name carving scene between Kirk + Spock and Mariner + Boimler.

In the first panel Spock, a fair-skinned man with pointed ears in a blue uniform, says to Kirk, a blond, tan-skinned man in a green uniform, "I fail to see the logic in defiling a perfectly good table." Kirk is carving their names into the bar table.

In the second panel, Kirk responds while smiling up at Spock, "It's an old human custom."

In the third panel we cut to a couple hundred years in the future where Beckett Mariner, a Black woman in a ponytail and dirty white uniform, is carving her and Boimler's name next to where Kirk and Spock's names are. The caption reads in Kirk's voice, "Two people will carve their names into a tree or a bridge or some sort of wood as a gesture of love." In the corner, Spock asks, "Love, Captain?"

In the fourth panel, Mariner has her arm around Boimler, a white man with purple hair in a dirty white uniform, while they are both smiling. The caption reads, "Love, friendship, romance."

In the fifth panel, the two ensigns are sitting together looking happily at their carved names next to Kirk and Spock's. The caption reads, "The carving would signify their lasting affection. Someone could come along years later, and even though those two people may be long gone, a mark of their love would still exist."

In the sixth panel it's the 2260s again. Spock says to Kirk, "Quite a romantic concept." with a quirked eyebrow. Kirk is smiling.

In the seventh panel, we see Kirk and Spock with their back towards the viewer. Spock has his arms folded behind his back while Kirk says, "Indulge me, Mr. Spock."

Two years ago, the first episode of Star Trek: Lower Decks had aired, and the world was introduced to the charming bunch of plucky ensigns of the USS Cerritos.

To celebrate this occasion and the upcoming crossover with Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, here's a little comic—based on a script by CEO of Star Trek and a sketch I made, brought to life by the amazing talent of @serial02721—that revisits one of the show's most iconic scenes. We'd like to thank Tawny Newsome and Jack Quaid for the work they put into their characters, Mike McMahan for being the creative mind behind the show, Dave Ihlenfeld for writing this beautiful scene, and the rest of the cast and crew for giving us this awesome cartoon!
